Rivergate at the Riverfront

Tucked away in the northeast corner of Suffolk is the award-winning community of Rivergate. It lies in a quiet area, adjacent to several parks and lakes. The neighborhood is just a mile from I-664, so areas such as Greenbrier, Virginia Beach Town Center, and Norfolk Naval Station are all less than 25 miles away.

These newer-construction single-family homes start in the mid-$400’s, and consist of three to five bedrooms. There are one- and two-story models both with two-car garages and walk-in attics – some even have sunrooms, screened in porches, and rooftop decks. While brand new homes have sold out, there are already homes on the market, and a new phase of construction will begin soon.

Rivergate at the Riverfront is close to a variety of amenities, conveniences, and shopping locations. It is less than two miles from the popular Harbour View Marketplace and close to all of the shopping available at Harbour View East. Suffolk is an outdoor-lover’s paradise, and Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve, Bennett’s Creek Park and Boat Ramp, and Riverfront Golf Club are all close by.

Parkside at Bennett’s Creek

Parkside is another great award-winning neighborhood in northeast Suffolk. It lies on the winding Bennett Creek near the entrance to Bennett’s Creek Park. It is just two miles from Hwy. 17, which allows for easy access to all of the neighboring cities.

Starting in the $400’s, these newer-construction one- and two-story craftsman homes have between three to five bedrooms. The homes are also very spacious with on average, 2,500 square feet of living space. Lots tend to be on the smaller side, but corner lots and homes that face the centrally located lake or that back up to Bennett Creek feel much more private.

This family-friendly community also consists of the Highland Green and Balmoral neighborhoods and has an active HOA. The amenities at Parkside at Bennett’s Creek are extensive, from tennis courts and an olympic-size pool to a five-acre park and community boat ramp. There’s even an 18-hole disc golf course.

Bennett’s Creek Landing

Another of the best neighborhoods in Suffolk, VA is Bennett’s Creek Landing. This is a private and established community bounded on the north by the Nansemond River and on the east by Bennett Creek. Bennett’s Creek Landing is just minutes from I-664, so like many other great neighborhoods in Suffolk, the other Hampton Roads cities are easily accessible.

The community consists of 127 distinctive custom-built homes. Most are of brick construction and colonial, craftsman, or traditional in style. These homes are also considerable in size – some with more than five bedrooms, multiple fireplaces, and more than 5,000 square feet of living space. The largest homes and those with deep water access are usually priced in excess of one million dollars.

Bennett’s Creek Landing is also a neighborhood with great amenities. There is a community clubhouse and pool, and the HOA offers boat slips at its members-only marina. Point Harbor

Like the other neighborhoods in northeast Suffolk, you’ll have easy access to I-664 from Point Harbor and will be less than 30 miles from many areas of Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach. Point Harbor is set in a quiet suburban area between the Nansemond River and Bennett Creek.

The neighborhood dates back to the 1970’s, and it developed over the years. Because of this, you’ll find a variety of home types and sizes to choose from – including brick or vinyl-sided ranch-style homes, two-story colonials, and homes with farmhouse architecture. Point Harbor is a quiet neighborhood with plenty of trees, and while you’re likely to get to know your neighbors, the lots aren’t too small. Three- to four-bedroom homes are affordably-priced, starting in the mid-$300’s. Some homes even back up to the Nansemond River.

There is no homeowner’s association in Point Harbor, so you won’t have to factor that expense into your budget if you choose a home here. There’s still plenty to do right outside the neighborhood – you’ll be surrounded by seemingly endless recreational activities and down the street from Sleepy Hole Golf Course and Bennett’s Creek Park. Combined with access to good schools as well as the great shopping and dining options at Bennett’s Creek Crossing and Harbour View Marketplace, it’s easy to see why Point Harbor is one of the best neighborhoods in Suffolk VA.
